Lila
The wood used to turn Lila comes from the botanical garden in Dresden. A majestic oak tree fell during a summer storm, and I was fortunate to receive a few pieces for my work. Lila is a live-edge bowl created from this wood — a delicate piece that carries the quiet memory of its origin.
My favorite feature of this bowl is the elevated spot on the rim, where some small ingrown branches once grew. After removing them during the turning process, the area took on a shape that resembles a cat’s paw.
